Overview

Bring It On: The Musical is the theatrical version of a 2000 teen comedy film of the same name; the dance musical made its debut at the Alliance Theatre, Atlanta, Georgia on January 16, 2011 with music by Lin-Manuel Miranda and Tom Kitt, lyrics by Amanda Green, and a script by Jeff Whitty. The highly energetic stage version of the movie has direction and choreography of Andy Blankenbuehler.

Bring It On Musical will debut its national tour at the Ahmanson Theatre, Los Angeles, in November 2011.

Story

Bring It On: The Musical is a fun story about two high school competing cheerleading teams each with a dream to win this year’s national championship title. The Rancho Carne High School’s cheerleading squad “The Toro” in San Diego is lead by newly-elected but an honest team captain, Torrance Shipman while the hip-hop “Clovers” squad from East Compton is lead by a determined team captain, Isis. The Toro team is working hard to win their sixth consecutive national championship trophy and Clovers team is dreaming to bring home their first national championship title.

As the story moves both team members deal with their own problems and close to their regional final game Torrance realize that their choreography is stolen from their rival team and they are left with no choice but to perform the same routines. However as the last year champions they are allowed entry into the national championship. The hard work and perfect choreography of the Cloves award them with their first ever national championship victory leaving the “The Toro” at second place.

Bring It On: The Musical cast features eight experienced cheerleaders including some of the nation’s most skilled cheerleaders including Amanda LaVergne, Kate Rockwell, Adrienne Warren, Kelly Felthous and Nick Blaemire.
